Oct 2003
On October 4th, we crossed the U.S. border at Thousand Islands Park, NY and headed west on route 20. Our goal is to reach Celina, Tennessee by October 6th. The purpose of this side trip is to settle my (Diana's) brother's probate and visit with brother Richard's family. Doreen (Richard's wife) recently underwent stem-cell surgery in Nashville and has made wonderful progress in recovering. Their granddaughter, Jazzy (13), lives with them.

We found out that Kentucky (just 15 miles east of Celina, TN)
has a beautiful state-resort park which revels the best. We
stayed at Dale Hollow State Resort Park in Burkesville, KY.
They have biking/hiking/horseback-riding trails, a prestigeous
lodge with restuarant, marina with houseboat rentals
and the most picturesque campground ever.

We left Celina, Tennessee to keep an appointment for repairs
at the Winnebago Industries in Forest City, Iowa. It was a plea-
sure dealing with them. Our guy, Steven, took very good care of us. In less than three days he had our list of items repaired or replaced and the lower front of the motorhome repainted. All this and a free hookup-site and new friends to boot. We highly recommend touring the plant. It was very interesting and informative. (The quality of the tour depends on the tour guide. Ours was excellent.)

After continuing south (heading for the sun) we stayed at Perdido Bay Resort Park in Brinkley, AL. It's part of the RPI resorts and also a KOA campground. It's a great central location for day trips. Across the causeway is Pensicola, Florida. Good seafood, beaches and shops.
We have a reservation for the Encore RV Park in Punta Gorda, Florida for Nov-1st to 30th.
Since it's only October 31st we decided to stay at Sumner Oaks RV Park in Bushnell, Florida. It's one of the Escapee Parks of which we're members. The cost is $10/night or free if you're dry-camping. If you're members you'll never get turned away.
We arrived early in the day and relaxed in the afternoon sun. Had a lovely supper and and walked around the park to have a look. The weather was beautiful. Days in the 80's and nights in the 60's.
We arrived at Punta Gorda in the afternoon of November 1st. It was very hot (in the 90's) and humid .Our site #151-B was in the back corner of the park with our own personal palm tree. (Now we're in Florida) It's beautiful here. There's a heated swimming pool available from 10am-10pm, activities if you like, golfing, biking and places to see and things to do!
