Our next destination was Blue Mesa RV Resort. We were given a 3-day guest pass from our new friends, Bernie and Davvie Ruble, full-timers from Florida, which involved a 90 minute presentation on discount camping with the Western Horizon membership. We are always looking to save on camping fees so we jumped at the chance.

The resort is located 12 miles west of Gunnison, Colorado directly across from beautiful Blue Mesa resevoir. The Elk Creek marina, which is owned by the resort, offers pontoon boating on the lake and the area of Gunnison has plentiful stream-fishing. The resort is surrounded by mountain slopes and the breezy cool climate was a welcome change from the desert.

A nearby town, Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte are meccas for year-round sports. Sking, snow-boarding, ski-dooing,and ATV-ing in winter and hiking and mountain-biking in the milder summer months. Wild lupine and columbine cover the hillsides in mid-to-late July making Crested Butte the wild flower capital of Colorado. We'll miss their festival by seven days.

After the 4th of July, we're heading to Colorado Springs where our daughter will
be joining us for a little rest and relaxation. We recently found out we will be grand-
parents for the first time in February.
