While waiting for a part to arrive at Cheyenne Freightliner, we enjoyed a quiet stay at the Jolly Roger RV Park just outside of the city on route 30. Corraled directly behind our rig was our
"new friend" who we called "Buddy."

We're beginning to realize that different parts of the
country incorporate their unique symbol into city art.
Florida had it's swans, Arizona and New Mexico had
horses, and now Wyoming has cowboy boots. This is
mainly because cowboys, horses, and rodeos, as well as
oil are prominent in the state's history.

		This was taken looking out
		of my bedroom window.

Various cowboy boot designs displayed through-out the city of Cheyenne.

Kaycee, Wyoming (pop. 244) is a refreshing small western
town about 60 miles north of Casper. We arrived, collected
our mail that we had arranged to be forwarded and
set up the rig. Shortly afterwards we had an unexpected
accident. The glass cover on our oven (ugh!!) crashed
to the floor in a million pieces. We cleaned up and counted
ourselves lucky that it hadn't happened on the road.

Across the street from the campground was the town's rodeo
arena at which a local horseback-riding competition was taking place. It consisted of barrel racing, slolums, and ribbon-racing pairs. It was strickly local talent from area towns but best of all
it was "free." It occurred to us that the town has more horses than residents.

We stayed at Powder Ridge RV Park which gave us a Passport America 50% discount for all six days. They have a wonderful hometown museum packed with the history of Kaycee and surrounding towns. The most famous being a shootout with cattle ranchers they called "invaders."
We rode out to the Hole In The Wall Canyon, the famous hideout
of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, made a day trip to Buffalo,Wyoming, ate at the Kaycee's Invasion Bar and Restaurant (great barbeque) and watched the rodeo in town on Friday night.
