"Squim"-in the native language of the S'Klallam tribe, means" quiet waters." It's a small retirement town bordering the northern coast of Washington. " It's year-round temperate climate makes it ideal for growning lavender and so it's nicknamed "the lavender capital of the country." There are over 30 such farms in the area and each year they celebrate a lavender festival during the second week of July.
A day trip toHurricane Ridge, in the Olympic National Park, with its breathtaking views of the glacier-clad peaks of the Olympic Mountains provides panoramic views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and alpine meadows.
