Well here we are back in our "home state" of Texas for the winter. We voted absentee ballot for the first time and now realize there's nothing that can't be accomplished while enjoying the full-timing lifestyle.
We spent nearly two weeks at the Bay View RV Resort (Western Horizons) in Rockport, Texas.
While there our daughter (Jennifer) and son-in-law, David visited us from Houston. She's 6 1/2 months
pregnant now and due to deliver our first grandson on January 25th, so we'll be wintering in nearby campgrounds during the next three-four months.
As a halfway point to Dallas for a reunion with my two sisters we stayed at Lake Pointe Resort at Canyon Lake. It's located 18 miles east on highway 306 off I-35. It's a beautiful non-profit resort in the C2C system that boasts two swimming pools, free wi-fi and an abundance of wildlife. (as the photo on right indicates!)
Just down the road is Skull Creek BBQ . We highly recommend this place!! They serve some of the best western barbecue you'll ever taste. Their secret is oak and mesquite wood used in the smoker.
This was taken in the early morning hours.
The reunion was very emotional as well as enjoyable. We spent four days in the Dallas/Big Sandy area catching up on family, future plans and our latest aches and pains. (this happens as we age!) We also met our latest member of the family, Carlie Ingram. (daughter of Robert & Cassie Ingram) She'll be one year old on New Year's Eve.
