April 2005
Our travels brought us to Briarcliffe RV Resort in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It was great to see the Atlantic Ocean once again. We find it hard to believe it's been over two years.
We were surprised by a visit from our daughter, Jennifer, who flew in from Houston with our 3 month old grandson, Brandon. He's growing like a weed. For five days our rv turned into a temporary baby nursery. It was surprising just how easily Brandon adapted to the RV lifestyle.
We attempted a picnic at the beach, (until it rained) strolled around Barefoot Landing and Broadway at the Beach, (Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville is there) feasted at a local seafood restuarant, (Seafare) and thoroughly enjoyed the visit.
"My flirty side"
You'd smile too if a bottle is waved in your face.
Okay everybody...........
Smile for the camera!
You grown-ups wear me out.
"Hey Mom, It's getting pretty cold in here."
I just need a little nap and I'll get my second wind.

After a pleasant stay in Myrtle Beach, SC, we toured the Freightliner factory in Gaffney, SC. They provide hook-ups for visitors as well as customers. While there, we had our coach serviced.

Bass Lake RV Resort in Salisbury, NC is roughly 100 miles north of Gaffney. It's one of the most attractive campgrounds we've stayed at. They boast a small stocked lake, nice grassy sites and even occasional local talent on weekends. While there, the weather ranged from 87 degrees to a morning low of 32. We're told April is variable, but summer definitely arrives in May. We cleaned our coach and "toad" (rv term for towed car) inside/and/out, visited local parks, took in a popular flea & farmer's market, and got 10 days of much-needed rest and relaxation.

We relived some family memories by traveling the (roughly 100 miles) Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park. We spent three chilly nights (night temps in the 20's) at Big Meadow Campground, witnessing more than a dozen deer, a thunderstorm, hail, even snow.
