Cody, Wyoming......is the east entrance to Yellowstone National Park, with it's roaming bison, elk, deer, and sheep as well as it's world-renown fishing streams. Cody was home to Wild Bill Cody and his famous Wild West Show, and then there are the...rodeos!! Here are a few highlights of our stay in Cody, Wyoming......

"Oh give me a home, where the buffalo roam"
We stayed about 30 miles east of the entrance to Yellowstone at Yellowstone Valley Inn & RV Park. Don fished the Firehole River and caught a couple of nice rainbow trout. His comment...mighty fine fishing! I had time to catch up on my reading while recovering from an illness.

Fishing the "Firehole River"
Of coarse we couldn't leave Cody, Wyoming without taking in their world-famous rodeo. Rodeos take place 7 days a week during July and August. Seated in the Buzzard's Roost, just above the pens, made the bull-riding, bronco-riding, calf-roping, much more exciting.

We visited Butte, Montana, a town rich in silver, copper and gold mining history. Thousands of immigrants, many of which were Irish, came to the U.S. hoping for a more peaceful life free from religous persecution, and to seek their fortune or to just earn a decent living in the mines to provide for their families. We thoroughly enjoyed an Irish-comedy-musical held in a little church at the World Museum of Mining in uptown Butte. The play, "The Days the Devil Danced in Dublin Gulch," made us more aware of the terrible treatment Irish-Catholics were given in their homeland and how dangerous and exhausting it was working in the mines. But mostly we just enjoyed the music and entertainment!
