October 2006
Our 2006 Jeep Liberty purchased in St. George, Utah
We arrived in Hurricane, Utah (which is about 13 miles north of St.George) on October 3rd and awaited a visit from Mark who flew out from Waltham, MA. We spent time catching up on our lives and activities (Mark is now a photography enthusiast with the equipment to prove it) and we all enjoyed exploring Zion National Park. Mark had planned on renting a Jeep Liberty for us to try out, but they upgraded him to a Jeep Commander. Needless to say it's a huge vehicle with lots of horsepower.
In Zion we hiked most of the Observation Point Trail and enjoyed majestic views and captured some amazing pictures of the canyon. Other trails included Weeping Rock and Riverside Walk. Mark only had three days so, since our time was limited
we drove the 130 miles to Bryce Canyon promising
him some unbelieveable landscape.
Observation Point Trail at Zion National Park
Our favorite at Bryce has always been Fairyland but Mark was partial to Sunset Rim for the hues and shadows at sunset.
On his last day we introduced him to Geo-caching. We found two of the three caches near the ghost town of Silver Reef. There is always some interesting history behind ghost towns. Silver Reef, Utah had been a gold-rush town in the 1800's with two pioneer cemetaries left. There is an effort to restore it to it's original condition. That will be worth revisiting.

Our next stop is three weeks in Pahrump, Nevada to take care of RV maintenance and to install a new supplemental brake system and tow bar plate on the Jeep Liberty.
