While staying at Pumpkin Patch RV Resort in Hermon, Maine, we visited Acadia National Park in
Bar Harbor. Our National Park Pass got us in for free. On our first visit we decided to use the "free" Island Explorer shuttle bus to get an overall feel of the park.
Sand Beach is a tiny beach sandwiched between mountains and rocky shores on Mt. Desert Island. As we hiked along the Great Head trail, we meandered along the coast, past Thunder Hole and ended at Otter Cliff.
After a break at Jordon Pond House
we continued into Bear Island and Bear
for lattes and their famous popovers,
Island Lighthouse in Northeast Harbor.
I have to mention that there are 57
for hikers, bikers, horseback-riding
these gravel roads. While leaving the
breaking away from the carriage and
witnessing this, we decided against a
miles of carriage roads built specifically
and carriages. No vehicles are allowed on
Jordan House a pair of horses got spooked injurying the driver and passenger. After carriage ride.

On our next visit to Acadia we drove up the winding 3+ miles road to Cadillac Mountain. Here we
got a spectacular view of Bar Harbor, Frenchman Bay and the outer islands. During certain
times of the year those on Cadillac Mountain are first to view sunrise in the U.S. We hiked the
1/2 mile decent down Cadillac Mountain to the base and returned again to the summit.
Because we only had one
week here, we decided to
return in September to
do some more hiking and
biking in the park.
