San Antonio, TX - Casa Grande, AZ - Kino Bay, Sonora, Mexico
We left San Antonio on January 15th after celebrating Brandon's 5th birthday. It was hard to say goodbye, but,
we had reservations for six
weeks at WHR-Kino Bay RV Resort in Mexico beginning February 4th. We made a visit to visit family in Phoenix, (see
family photos) enjoyed the 2nd Annual Indian Flute Festival at
the Casa Grande Ruins, and made preparations for Mexico.
We always enjoy visiting Kino Bay during this
time of the year. The staff takes full advantage of Super Bowl Sunday, Mardi Gras, their annual Chili Cook off, and Valentine's Day, There are any number of scheduled activities including; aerobics, line-dancing, Texas Holdem, desert golf, crafts, pot luck suppers and happy hours. You decide if you want to be busy or lazy.
This year we attended a house tour in New
Kino Bay.(1) it's a fund-raiser to benefit their schools.
We also attended another fund-raiser in Old
Kino Bay (2) for which local families are given a loan to buy materials to improve their casas originally made from odd materials like cardboard and in stages upgraded to a mortar. It's an unending process but they work hard and become proud of their accomplishments.
