We hiked the four mile Curecanti Creek trail off Route 92. It's about a 700' decline which followed a stream to the mouth of the Black Canyon River where Don got some fly-fishing in while I got some serious downtime.

We've found that Hummingirds are very prevalent in this area of Colorado. Since Don and I both share a love for the breed, with it's backwards-spinning wings, delicate size, colorful coats, and eating habits, I purchased a window feeder and watched them endlessly.

Jen and Brandon paid us a short visit during the 4th of July weekend. Watching
the parade in Crested Butte was an experience with it's tradition of unusual handmade floats. You can't miss the fire hosing in the center of town,(especially on a hot day) and of coarse the delicious foods. Back in Gunnison we enjoyed the
annual 4th of July fireworks at Jorgenson Park.

On their second visit, Brandon wanted to climb a mountain so what better place than Hartman Rocks. While exploring, we located three geocaches.
We all drove up to Beaver Ponds for a picnic then went 4-wheeling on Kebbler Pass, ending in Crested Butte. What a ride! A few days later, Mark flew in for a short visit to enjoy some quality famly time.

We rented a pontoon for
an excursion on Blue Mesa
Lake. Brandon got his first
fishing lesson and Mark
"captained" his first boat!
