Our time at Bodie Island Light Station was rewarding. We assisted Ranger Taylor Jordan in running the museum at the lighthouse. Our schedule was 4/days on, 3/days off. Basically we were given volunteer training manuals and books covering the history of Bodie, the lighthouse keepers, and tales passed on by OBX locals.(Outer Banks) Our off days were spent exploring Cape Hatteras National Seashore and Cape Lookout National Seashore. The positives outweighed the negatives of camping near the ocean. Beautiful views, walks on the beach, sunsets, sea breezes, and fresh-salty air to breath. The two negatives were the constant, unannounced winds that shook the motorhome and the mosquito infestation. (That's m-o-s-q-u-i-t-o-s!!!) The "locals" live with them, but vistors only put up with them. We left Nags Head on June 2nd heading for Pennsylvannia.
