July 2012 - Continued.......A month spent at Newfound Lake, N.H.
Newfound Lake and surrounding areas offer so much in the way of places to visit and things to do. We were told about a series of falls in the area that were perfect for hiking and geo-caching. We've had some "dog days" up here and dipping in a cold stream really hit the spot.

"On Golden Pond" was playing at a local summer theatre in Laconia so we went to see it. (one of my favorite movies with
Henry Fonda, Jane Fonda, and Kathryn Heburn) The author of the book, Ernest Thompson (right). portrayed Charlie
the mailman.
Our own "Golden Pond"...Newfound Lake Such a peaceful, relaxing place...we'll be back someday!
Meredith is located on Lake Winnepasackie. The Mt. Washington ferry transports passengers from Merredith to Weir Beach daily. There are shops, resturants, and a beautiful boardwalk on
the harbor.
Norm and Shirl who recently purchased their "retirement condo" visited us in New Hampshire and camped for
four days. While there we met a nice couple from R.I., Ted & Carol who spent many years vacationing in this area and let us in on a favorite swimming hole.
