Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park , on the Lewis and Clark Trail, is over 1,000 arces in size and is located
just sout of Mandan, North Dakota at the confluence of the Heart and Missouri Rivers. This is the fort where General George Custer led the 7th Cavalry to the battle of the Little Big Horn in !876. The picture (upper left) is a reconstructed house on the exact spot where Custer lived from 1873 until 1876.
"On-a Slant" Mandan Indian Village
This Indian village composed of approximately 88 earth lodges,located within Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park, was occupied by the Mandan Indians from 1575 - 1781. Lewis and Clark discovered the abandonded village when they explored this area fron 1804 - 1806.
