June 2006 - Continued
Here are some highlights from our stay in Colorado......
Our friends, Gregg and Daretta, that we met in Casa Grande, AZ invited us on a "ride" to Engineer Pass and Cinnamon Pass. The ride turned out to be 4-wheeling adventure on narrow, but steep, gravel roads, with cars passing us, while driving up to an elevation of nearly 13,000 feet. Needless to say, it was quite scary for me, (being afraid of heights) but the beauty of mountain views, alpine flowers, wildlife, and refreshing clean air were so rewarding.

On the way, we passed an abandoned mining town called Animas Fork.

We realized that anyone spending a great deal of time in the mountain states needs a four-wheel
drive vehicle. In Colorado they pass up the "boring" paved highways for the exciting mountain gravel roads from Silverton to Montrose. Our Saturn has taken it's toll just trying to locate mountain fishing streams and visiting the area sights. So...we're looking around for a 4-wheel
drive, replacement vehicle that's easy to tow.

The fly-fishing's been great! Although the streams are swelled, Don has managed to catch
quite a few. Some of his favorite spots were; Taylor Creek, Spring Creek, Roaring Judy, and Cochetopa.
