March 2007 - Cont'd
The FMCA rally in Perry, Georgia was held March 19-22nd. This year we signed up to volunteer as security, so we were able to arrive on Friday, March 16th. There are over 800 volunteers who give their time to keep the rally cost down. There's so much going on with seminars, entertainment, vendors, manufacturers, and new friendships. There's always some new information or product we take with us to enhance our lifestyle.
On St. Patrick's Day, we celebrated at O'Malley's Pub in Kathleen, Georgia. They served the
traditional corned-beef and cabbage, Irish stew and soda bread along with popular Irish beers. Of coarse Irish music was provided for a night of sing-a-longs. We had a blast!

Viewing the coaches is another fun part of the rally. With over 1,000 motorhomes there's something for everyone. My favorite was the Safari Cheetah 40SKT. It had a new inventive floorplan with the kitchen up front allowing the appeal of a full living room. Of coarse at almost $300,000 it makes me appreciate what we have!

We rented a site at Mt. Olive Shores in Polk City, Florida where Don's brother stays for the winter. Ray's adding a building beside his motorhome for family and guests. It will have all the amenities of a home, including a kitchen, bathroom, pull-out bed, and area for a workbench. On Friday, Pat and Lorraine Ryan, who work at Disney World, invited us to go along with Ray and Dot to Downtown Disney to the movies. On Sunday we got invited to Ebcot Center. On Monday, March 2nd, we move to Barrington Hills RV Resort in Hudson, which is near New Port Richey, Florida. My surgery is Tuesday, April 3rd and we'll be staying put for a month or so for recovery and follow-up visits. There are beaches within 2 miles and plenty of activities, so it won't be too unbearable!
