2008 Travel Log
The last of our days at Keno Bay warmed up, the winds diminished and our time was
spent lounging around the pool with cold
drinks amd a good book. Not a bad way to spend the remainder of winter. On March 12th
we packed away our belongings, said our goodbyes and headed out on the desert trail for one last time. Our memories of the serenity of this place and the kind and friendly people we've met, both in town and at the resort convince us that we'll return next year.

We arrived at Desert Shadows in Casa Grande, Arizona on Saturday, March 15th. We immediately searched for a surgeon to perform a necessary procedure that's been recommended for Don, so it looks like we'll be in Casa Grande for a while. (Surgery on April 25th went very well and Don is doing fine.)
Easter Sunday was spent with nieces Cyndie and Kelli in Phoenix. Randy drove over my sister Angie, who has advanced Alzheimer's, and surprisingly it turned out to be one of her "better days."
On March 25, Di flew to San Antonio for a short visit with Jennifer, David, and grandson, Brandon, before driving to Big Sandy for Paul and Gay Ingram's 50th wedding anniversary celebration. It was a wonderful party and both sides of the family attended.

Don and I celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary on April 19th. In 1969, when the 19th fell on a Saturday, I asked Don if he wanted to get married or go fishing? (It was opening fishing day in Connecticut and Don's a fly-fisherman.) We saw a movie then later had dinner a Bedillon's in Casa Grande. It's a combination restuarant/museum with a history that goes back to the mid-1800's. It's an adobe home with a courtyard and over the years, the original owners collected cactus specimens so the courtyard is a menagerie of giant cactus and assorted desert plants. At night the pathway through the courtyard is illuminated with tiny white lights. The food was delicious, the service was great and the chef surprised us with a warm slice of apple/walnut cake decorated with white chocolate and raspberry sauce spelling out "Happy Anniversary."
While here we did some hiking and geo-caching in Box Canyon which is located just outside Florence, Arizona. Here we are locating one of four caches in the canyon.
